9:15 AM - 10:00 AM | PI for Distribution System Operations (Stedin) The irregular production of DER that are mainly connected to the distribution grid, along with fast variations in supply and demand, challenges the Distribution System Operator mission to maintain a continuous service. This situation led STEDIN to seek for more flexibility to ensure a reliable operation enabling a very high penetration of renewable energy sources. The PI System plus its IEC-61850 connector is an advanced solution within STEDIN’s Smart Grids applications environment. This presentation paper will concentrate on the power network flexibility services allowed by IEC 61850 and PI within STEDIN
10:15 AM - 11:00 AM | Implementing Condition Based Asset Management As the Belgian electricity transmission system operator, Elia is continuously improving its asset management strategies in order to cope with the changes in the environmental, legal, financial and technological landscape. One of the enablers is the choice to speed up the evolution from classical time based asset management to condition based asset management, making use of the digitalization trend. This presentation focusses on the implementation of Elia’s Asset Condition & Control (ACC), who is the referential for offline and online dynamic data to calculate an equivalent age based on the physical condition of an asset, supporting the daily decision making of the Asset Manager. The implementation will be demonstrated through an example from the midlife refurbishment policy from a subpopulation of the power transformer fleet.
11:15 AM - 12:00 PM | Data cleansing & anomaly detection made easy with PI System & OSIsoft Cloud Services Outlier events happen on a regular basis in any operational environment. Unfortunately many outliers are simply normal behavior which happens infrequently or simple errors (human data entry errors, sensor errors, sampling errors, data compression errors, etc.). All these outliers are typically bunched up along with the anomalous events making it difficult to identify anomalies within a large group of outliers. Organizations have struggled to move from preventive to predictive maintenance due to this natural phenomenon affecting all operational data. In bolder innovative context, outliers handling and data cleaning tasks are slowing down analytics, machine learning, deep learning and AI projects. Our presentation will look at the workflow utilizing PI OCS to uncover outliers, label anomalies and data errors, and enable data cleaning filters and forecasting anomalies moving forward. This is a first step in a successful journey towards predictive maintenance & AI-based projects.
1:45 PM - 2:30 PM | Building the Comprehensive Ecosystem of Production Data (MPWiK) MPWiK (Wroclaw Water and Sewage Authority) is a fair size user of the PI System infrastructure with 200,000 tags coming from production, field sensors, weather stations as well as historians. We managed to implement PI in some of different areas of our company and presented some of these at previous user conferences. Our new PI implementation is building building the comprehensive ecosystem of production data to find breakdowns using Real-time Data from our Telecommunications Operator. We can now define the location of a registered system failure by the phone number of the caller before he even gives us the address. The information is quickly displayed on the map integrated with PI Vision. Of course, there are other elements necessary to make sense from this data which is why we integrated PI with Google Analytics to provide the operator with decision support.
2:45 PM - 3:30 PM | The true value of energy as the key to operational excellence (enerGQ) Intro Our common customer Oasen connected PI with enerGQ, The result is a CSA that enables enerGQ to scale up fast and will create value for many more triangular relationships in future Presentation + supported with cases We believe that energy is the capacity to do work, to create tangible value and is therefore the carrier of the real economy. Everything we touch, use and produce comes about through an energy flow. Through our view of energy as the holistic performance indicator of assets, we enable organizations to maximize the value created by energy. We achieve this by combining the client's domain knowledge and operational data with our know-how to achieve immediate results. Our technology is the result of many years of application and continuous development of our AEI (Artificial Energy Intelligence) based software, process and energy expertise, deployment of very accurate and cost effective energy monitoring hardware and the ability to connect to and use existing systems.
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM | PI System as a Sustainable Component of our Data Infrastructure E.ON Climate & Renewables have moved on and expanded usage of real time data heavily, the presentation will provide a view how EC&R approach the sustainability of our PI Infrastructure. With OSIsoft PI System being a one of the key pillars. It more a kind of motivation speach and experience sharing session rather on a dedicated case
4:15 PM - 4:45 PM | The Power of a Single Integrated Database (TSCNET) The Regional Security Coordinator (RSC) entity as such is completely new in Europe, meaning that all the connected regulations, processes and tools are changing and developing in a fast pace. The presentation introduces basic information about a special industry segment where RSCs support the operation of the European Energy Transmission System which is important to understand the significance of the process. Couple of years ago there was only one source system to operate in 24/7 regime. Today it is increased to about 8 and more will come - with the implementation of the Clean Energy Package - which are already in experimentation phase. Several applications are hosted in different environments and are working with different virtual identifiers pointing to the same physical network element (Transformers, Lines, Substations etc). By standardizing the virtual identifiers and saving it in a Single Integrated Data System.
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM | Integrating Data into Digital Power Grids Electricity grid operators are employing digital technologies to adapt to new challenges in transmitting and distributing power. This includes sharing operating data between companies, using predictive maintenance to reduce outages, and experimenting with artificial intelligence for grid balancing. The extent to which grid digitalization is happening differs by region and company. This presentation will go over BloombergNEF findings on European utility digitalization with an emphasis on the role of open source data and software. |
